Our trip to August National Golf Course for the The Masters!!!
45 minutes to Augusta. No traffic. No rain. Forecast said one thing… the ⛅️ had other plans.
Pulled in early and walked straight through the gates at The Masters Tournament like it was nothing.
And then… chaos.
People everywhere hauling BAGS on bags of merch like it was Black Friday.
I’m talking 30–40 feet at a time before they had to stop and regroup. Absolute madness.
Only real line? The pro shop.
Guy holding a sign: “Over an hour wait.”
Then casually drops, “Unless you’re here for the gnome everyone’s flipping… come back in an hour.”
We took that advice.
Walked right into concessions.
No lines. Grabbed whatever we wanted. The candy bar this year is a must.
The staff, young and old, were unreal. Energy was high, and the way they treated the kids was next level.
They were getting them right up to the ropes, making sure they had moments they’ll never forget. That part stood out.
Made our way back later…
Line? Yeah.
But nothing like earlier. 20 minutes, tops.
Then you get inside, and it’s a different game.
You’re in this holding area watching people grab one of EVERYTHING. And you start questioning yourself…
“Do I need to do this?”
“Am I about to become one of these people?”
It’s overwhelming your first time.
Then the prices hit you:
$110 dog collar.
$102 youth belt.
Keep moving… now you’re at the quarter zips.
All you hear is people yelling sizes and numbers with zero clue what anything costs. Just pure commitment.
Letting a 10-year-old run loose in there with his uncle?
Not my best decision.
We survived though. Got everything my wife and daughter wanted.
Me?
Forgot half the stuff I wanted and suddenly… we’re checking out.
All good.
Backup plan in motion, my brother’s heading back Friday to Berckmans Place so I’ll recover.
But none of that really matters.
The time with my dad, my brother, and my son, that’s the part that sticks.
I’ve been lucky to experience big moments… World Series, Stanley Cup Finals…
This is right there with them.
Anyone tells you otherwise, they’re lying.
